TaMa - Task manager
TaMA is a modular desktop task board system that transforms scheduling into a tactile, focused ritual. A portable notebook feeds handwritten task cards into a sliding rail mechanism that reveals only one task at a time. Designed with embedded magnetic rails, TaMA adapts seamlessly to desktop, wall-mounted, and flexible workspace environments.
Visual & Mechanics
A slid rail that visualizes the progress, a mechanism that highlights on one task.
In today’s fast-paced, multitasking work culture, effective scheduling is essential, yet this need remains insufficiently addressed.
Lack of tactile and smooth interaction
Writing on boards requires constant bending and reaching which builds friction. Why not rethink the interaction?
Pressure leads to procrastination
When workloads are displayed all at once, they feel overwhelming and often lead to procrastination.
Kills sense of accomplishment
Task boards often serve only as documentation tools and become a hassle to erase or reset.
Design Criteria
Interactive & Tactile
To create a sense of joy and reinforce feelings of accomplishment, the design should offer satisfying, tangible interactions.
Seamless & Frictionless
The product should not overcomplicate the interactions that add friction for users. Instead, it should fit naturally and smoothly into their daily routines.
Redesigned Work Ritual
To effectively enhance an existing practice or ritual that people already practice, we provide a fresher and more enjoyable experience.
Process & Ideation
“Snap”
To achieve satisfying snap-in and release moments at both when attaching the sheet and when sliding or rotating the rail, I developed the set of mechanisms done using magnets through multiple rounds of iteration and testing.
